History, Price and included items:
The P70 was build by AWZ for 4 years in Zwickau. The same factory built Horch automobiles before World War II. AWZ built cars under the Sachsenring name and then the Trabant name. The P70 uses the same plastic fenders as the Trabant but the doors, hood, trunk and roof are steel. Wood is used to support the structure on a steel frame. This P70 is one of 2 in the US. This car was purchased after the Berlin wall fell and the owner kept the car in “East German” condition including a set of narrow retread tires. At some point a respray was done, the original color was green. After the owner died this car was imported to the US by his nephew and lived in sunny California for a few years. We wanted to fix a crack in the front fender and have new paint when we got this car. We found some rotten wood in the back and around the rear window. A paint job has turned into a complete restoration. Currently listed on E-bay |
